Victor Wooten

Victor Wooten is a five-time Grammy award-winning bass guitarist and 1982 graduate of Denbigh High School. Wooten hit the worldwide scene in 1990 as a founding member of the super-group Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Continuing to blaze a musical trail with the band, Victor has also become widely known for his own Grammy-nominated solo recordings and tours. He has won every major award given to a bass guitarist, including being voted Bassist of the Year in Bass Player Magazine's readers poll three times (the only person to win it more than once). In 2011, Rolling Stone Magazine voted Victor one of the Top Ten Bassists of ALL TIME.

Jae Sinnett

Jae Sinnett is a consummate drummer, composer, and bandleader who has produced 15 albums – the first of which, Obsession, was released in 1986. His “masterpiece” album The Sinnett Hearings was released in 2005 and features some of his best writing, arranging, and drumming. It was the first of his eight releases in which he wrote and arranged every composition, and it became his first jazz album to debut at number one on the national jazz radio charts in January 2006. Locally, he may be best known as the long-time jazz producer and host for NPR affiliate WHRV-FM 89.5. Sinnett hosts the popular jazz show Sinnett in Session, as well as The R&B Chronicles.

Robert R. Hatten

Robert R. Hatten is a pioneer and national leader in the field of asbestos litigation. Since 1981, Hatten has served as the managing partner of Patten, Wornom, Hatten & Diamonstein, L.C., the largest law firm in the city of Newport News. It has recently been announced that Hatten will be honored as "Best Lawyer of the Year in Virginia" for 2019.

Hatten was instrumental in starting Soundscapes as one of its first supporters and its first Chairman of the Board of Directors. As Board Chair, he has remained one of the organization’s most loyal advocates. Soundscapes will honor Hatten for his 10 years of unwavering commitment.

Alan Diamonstein

Alan Diamonstein is a native and resident of Newport News who has a distinguished record in legal and legislative issues as an attorney at Patten, Wornom, Hatten & Diamonstein. As a member of the Virginia House of Delegates for more than 30 years, he served as the chairman of key legislative committees, and his understanding of the legislative process and ability to develop effective working relationships with elected officials and public professionals at all levels is reflected in a record of successful initiatives.

Diamonstein has always been active in local, state and national civic, arts and professional organizations, and Soundscapes is proud to have Alan as one of the organization’s first Board members. Soundscapes will honor Diamonstein for his 10 years of support and advocacy.
